Wheeling Park High School’s Speech and Debate Team are thrilled to announce a thrilling new fundraiser: A Murder Mystery Dinner Theater event.

“We were looking for a way to showcase the talent of our kids,” states WPHS Counselor and Speech and Debate coach Jen Mathieu.  A unique take on this is the popular “Murder Mystery Dinner Theater” program.  Speech and Debate has teamed up with Wheeling Park’s White Palace to offer a buffet dinner and an evening of over-the-top, campy comedy entitled, “Murder in the Air.”  The show will premiere September 7th at 6:00 P.M. at The White Palace.

“It’s completely led by speech and debate students with 13 cast members and two student directors,” state both Isabella Droginske and Kayla Nelson, WPHS staff members and Speech and Debate coaches.

In addition to the dinner and show, a cash bar will be open for patrons over the age of 21 and various raffle tickets will be available for purchase.  The evening experience will run approximately three hours, and due to the length of the event, it is recommended for ages 10 and up.  “It’s pure comedy and incredibly interactive for the audience,” states Mathieu.

The cost of the event is $55.00, and that ticket includes the show and the catered buffet.  All funding will support the cost of the team’s travels and tournament registration costs as they hope to earn a 45th consecutive state championship title.  Tickets can be purchased on Booktix or by reaching out to Kayla Nelson via email or Schoology.  Sponsors of the event currently include the Wheeling Park Commission, Sweet Abe’s Bakeshop, Grisell Funeral Home and Crematory, Kalkreuth Roofing, and Wheeling Park High School.
