Tuesday, Jan. 7: Lunch With Books Returns for 2025 with Adam & Eve Dancing: the Iconography of Their Apocryphal Lives

Mary-Bess Halford was born in England and graduated with a PhD in German Language and Literature from Stirling University in Scotland. She moved to the USA in 1981 where she earned her MLS at LSU while working on collection development in the Humanities and Fine Arts at Tulane University.

In 1990 she moved to WV where she worked at Bethany College Library for 16 years. She now volunteers at the Archives of the Disciples of Christ History Society and is an active member of St Matthew’s Church.

She will be discussing with illustrations the now little-known apocryphal lives of Adam and Eve, optimistic stories about the progenitors of the human race that were very popular in Europe up until the Reformation.
