Linsly Community Mourns Loss of Educator, Coach Ray “Raybo” Smith

-

The Linsly community is saddened by the news of the recent passing of Mr. Ray Smith, who served as a Linsly faculty member for thirty-nine years.

Mr. Smith, affectionately known as “Raybo” to his friends and co-workers, wore many hats during his time at Linsly, but is most remembered for being an exceptional math teacher, making the topic accessible even to those students who struggled with the topic. In addition to teaching math, Ray served as a member of Linsly’s on-campus faculty, coached ninth-grade football, and, most notably, simultaneously served as the head varsity basketball coach for both the men’s and women’s teams.

The Linsly community extends their deepest condolences to the Smith family (Jordan ’05 and Jarred ’11) and our gratitude for his many years of service to Linsly.
