One of the things the left finds most terrifying about President Donald J. Trump is that he is a leader. He has a vision and a plan and is at the forefront of taking us there – pushing his administration to deliver on his vision for the American people.
In short, he’s leading.
One of the leadership development gurus that I follow is John Maxwell, and he says that, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”
Our President “knows the way. ” He has a clear vision and purpose. Two statements are repeated repeatedly: “Make America Great Again” and “America First.” Both are clear, concise, and completely unambiguous. There is no doubt about his direction.
“Going the way” means that he is living out that vision and endeavoring to achieve it. He’s working toward peace in Ukraine and the Middle East. It’s almost comical watching the left melt down when he’s taking action. They know that he has an excellent chance of accomplishing these lofty goals, and thus locking the left out in the mid-term elections. Not all of what the President is doing is going to be successful. He’s doing so much that the successes will completely overshadow the few failures.
“Showing the way” means helping his team, the cabinet and the leaders he’s tasked with making this happen discover their own path and achieve both their personal goals, and the mutually agreed upon goals. This is so much more than just delegating tasks – it is actively participating in the journey. It’s the great multiplier, and President Trump has chosen “do-ers” for his appointees – people who are not afraid of controversy and of getting their hands dirty making necessary changes.
Leaders, by their very nature, are polarizing. President Donald J. Trump has the added dimension of having the political left who’s lurking around every corner looking to trip him up. When he has subordinates who don’t make the grade, they are dealt with quickly, as leaders like our President don’t have the time or inclination to deal with those who are not on board.
The left loves to venerate these people, often in light of their glaring failures.
I think you need to compare these actions to his predecessor. Biden’s lack of leadership was compensated for by throwing money at ill conceived, unpopular, and poorly planned things – for example “green energy.” Biden’s plan was spend-spend-spend, and hope that some good would come from it.
Massive amounts of taxpayer dollars were wasted in his many debacles with little or nothing to show for it.
The same was true with the conflicts that Biden fueled during his administration. He didn’t lead. He opened our treasury, dispensing money and weapons willy-nilly, admonishing the recipients to do the “right thing,” whatever that means. This cost lives and even more United States taxpayer dollars.
In my lifetime we have had few United States Presidents who are real leaders, ones who have a vision, can articulate the vision, takes actions to accomplish the vision, and builds and encourages a team to finish the considerable job of moving this great nation forward.
History has a habit of treating leaders very well, and we have a President who is clearly a leader. We are a little more than 160 days into his second term, and he is accomplishing the things he said he would. President Trump is leading.
He “knows the say, goes the way, and shows the way.”
