Ohio County Schools Celebrating National Public Schools Week

-

This week, Ohio County Schools proudly joins public schools across the nation in celebrating National Public Schools Week, honoring the educators, staff, students, families, and community partners who make public education an example of opportunity for every single child.

Sponsored annually by the Learning First Alliance, National Public Schools Week shines a spotlight on the critical role public schools play in preparing students for college, careers, and civic life. 90% of Americans have been publicly school-educated, and in WV specifically, it is estimated that 95% of students are public school-educated. Public schools serve more than 49 million students nationwide and remain the heart of the future of our communities.

Here in Ohio County, we are proud of the innovation happening in our classrooms each day — from academic achievement and career-technical programs to fine arts, athletics, and student leadership opportunities. Our dedicated educators and support professionals work tirelessly to ensure every student feels supported, challenged, and inspired.

Starting Friday, 2/20, with West Virginia’s Department of Education “Red for Public Ed” day, OCS families and students share stories that reflect the pride and promise of public education.

We invite our community to join us in celebrating the impact of public schools — not just this week, but every day.
