Ohio County Schools is hosting a Mental Health Fair on 4/23/26 at WV Northern Community College.  The event is scheduled from 5:00-7:30 and is completely free and open to the public.

Dr. Jim Harris, nationally recognized speaker, will provide a keynote address from 5:00-5:40, on the effects of Digital Dopamine, particularly on young people that feel trapped or addicted to their devices and the science behind such.

From 5:40-7:30, all attendees will be able to build a conference style schedule to fit their specific needs.

“We have over 25 presentations available all throughout WVNCC that offer requested topics not only from parents, but from students,” explains OCS Behavioral Specialist, Dr. Nicole Shepherd.  “All presentations are sorted by elementary, middle, or high school focus as well as several sessions that appeal to all ages,” she adds.

With topics like “The Adolescent Brain,” “Question and Answers about Autism,” “Supporting Safe Gaming,” or “De-Escalation,” there are opportunities for learning to fit each attendee’s specific need.

“We really hope the community joins us for a unique event that is designed truly to teach us all something new,” adds OCS Director of Public Relations, Karin Butyn.

Registration is not required, but is preferred to account for numbers.  The sessions are intended for middle school aged children through adults.  Free childcare will be offered for kids at WVNCC.  Register at https://tinyurl.com/OCSFair26.
