ODOT Project Updates – Belmont County

The following ODOT construction projects are anticipated to impact traffic in Belmont County. All outlined work is weather permitting. Visit OHGO.com for travel updates or follow ODOT District 11 on Facebook or X for current Belmont County construction information.


Interstate 70 Projects

I-70/State Route 149 interchange improvement: Work is underway on the major interchange improvement project at the I-70 Exit 208 for SR 149/Morristown. Two lanes are currently maintained on I-70 in both directions. Future traffic impacts for SR 149 will begin in 2027. U.S. Route and State Route Projects

U.S. Route 40 resurfacing: Work is underway on a project to resurface 11 miles of U.S. Route 40 from Ladybend Hill (at I-70, mile marker 204), heading east, ending at the western end of St. Clairsville. Traffic is maintained with flaggers during construction. Estimated Completion: September 30, 2026.


State Route 147 slide repair: A project to stabilize two slopes along State Route 147 west of Key. The work zone spans from Wegee Road to Tiber Road. Traffic is maintained with temporary traffic signals. Estimated Completion: October 31, 2026


State Route 149 slide repair: SR 149 is closed west of Warnock for the repair of an existing concrete retaining wall along McMahon Creek. Traffic is detoured via SR 9 south to SR 147 west, SR 147 west back to SR 149, and reverse. Estimated Completion: September 30, 2026


State Route 149 bridge rehabilitation: The rehabilitation of the bridge over the Little McMahon Creek. The project will repair portions of the bridge and install rock channel protection. One lane of traffic is maintained throughout construction. Estimated Completion: September 30, 2026.
