An OPEN LETTER to … Country Star Travis Tritt …

Dear Travis:

Son, do you have any idea what you represent as the first live show in the Wheeling area in more than a year? The Upper Ohio Valley has limped its way to half the population that lived here back in the 1970s, but more than ever do we love live entertainment. And we show up. Ask Elton John, the Avett Brothers, and John Mellencamp.

But you, friend, represent the release we’ve needed since we started hearing about quarantines and associated deaths and that’s why ticket sales were swift despite the debate over vaccinations and mandated masks. Mr. Tritt, people will have special group t-shirts and masks made, a chorus will help you sing your songs, and your show will be forever burned into the memories of those who attend. We’re proud of this town’s country music history, what with Jamboree USA and Jamboree in the Hills

You will be our kind of freedom, and when you sing, “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive”? Just know, children, women, and men in attendance quickly will drown you out. It is highly likely, just so you know, we will give you a memory you’ll take to the grave.

Sincerely,

A Quarantined Valley
