An OPEN LETTER to … Our Gold Star Families …

-

Dear Family Members:

As you have likely realized by now, for some Americans, you represent too much reality because you’re tremendous loss of your loved one is proof there is a cost for our freedoms. And, well, some don’t wish to admit that fact because it would make them accountable, too.

Instead, some wish to continue taking it all for granted without contemplating the casualties and consequences produced from protecting what’s guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. That’s why they don’t want to hear about your soldier and their widowed family; they don’t want to care that much because it might make those day-off hamburgers and hot dogs a little less tasty.

But you know that already, don’t you? You’ve heard the debates connected to immigration and common sense, and you’ve followed the arguments over things like reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in our schools, and you’ve seen the small crowds that collect for those annual Memorial Day services, too.

And sadly, that will be the case again this Monday as our beloved veterans present the colors and perform ceremonies honoring their battle buddies who, like your loved one, didn’t return home from war.

We can only hope and pray that more Americans come to understand America.

Sincerely,

We Honor You
