Bridgeport Schools, Village Police Stage National Night Out

Crowds of children and families dropped by the Bridgeport Exempted Village School District campus Aug. 6 for National Night Out, organized by the village police department and coinciding with back-to-school preparations.

County agencies were on hand to provide information. Local businesses also participated. Law enforcement gave demonstrations with their K9 officers and young people were free to explore police and emergency vehicles. The HealthNet helicopter out of Moundsville landed in the district parking lot.

This marked the fifth year the Bridgeport police participated in the national event, with 500-700 people usually in attendance. The first day of school for students is Aug. 21.
