Virtual Enrichment.

This summer, Ohio County Schools is offering a Virtual Enrichment Academy in addition to our traditional summer school programs Beginning June 8th, students in PK-8th grade can participate in an 8-week virtual learning program to practice skills in reading and math. Additional opportunities in science, problem-solving, and mindfulness will also be available.

To register your student, please visit the Ohio County Schools Facebook page or website to complete the online registration form or call (304) 243-0300 between 9:00 and 3:00 if you are unable to register online.

Parking Enforcement.

The Wheeling Police Department and its civilian Parking Enforcement Officers will begin to issue citations on all parking related violations beginning today. Parking enforcement was temporarily suspended in mid-March at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Citations will be issued for:

  • ALL expired Meters
  • red commercial loading zones
  • yellow no parking lines
  • handicapped parking spots
  • all posted no parking signs (includes specific times & street sweepers).

St. Clairsville Council.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the changes that have been made to Ohio’s Open Meetings Act (which temporarily allows public bodies to conduct meetings and hearings electronically during this state of emergency), the regular scheduled meeting for today in St. Clairsville City Council. It will be conducted via TELECONFERENCE, beginning at 7:30 P.M. The Council members, Mayor Thalman, and the City’s Administrative staff will be TELECONFERENCE participants. Public bodies must provide public access to any meeting or hearing that the public would otherwise be entitled to attend.  Therefore, any resident who is interested in dialing in to the TELECONFERENCE is encouraged to do so.  Residents will be in a LISTEN ONLY MODE.

COVID-19 Update for Marshall County.

Marshall County Health Department received confirmation of two additional new positive Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Marshall County.  Both individuals are females, the first in her 70’s and the second in her 30‘s.  Both are reporting mild symptoms and are currently in isolation at their respective homes.  Marshall County Health Department staff will be checking in with them daily checking symptoms and temperature. This brings Marshall County to a total of 32 confirmed cases, 8 of which are in isolation at home and 24 whom have been released from isolation.

Imer on Air.

Wheeling Councilman Ken Imer is scheduled to be on The Watchdog (98.1 FM WKKX and 97.7 FM WVLY) beginning at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Imer is one of five candidates running to represent Ward 2.

Returns to Be Accepted.

Beginning today, the Ohio County Public Library will begin accepting returns of library materials through the Library’s book drop. Then beginning Monday, June 8, 2020, the Library will resume circulation and reference desk services via phone and begin curbside services. Curbside services will include the pick-up of reserved library materials, requested tax forms, and requested research and reference printouts. Notary and photocopy services will also be provided curbside.
