Statement from Wheeling Water Department Regarding Taste/Smell of Water

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Water Department is aware of the taste and odor issues affecting our system due to an algae bloom in the Ohio River.

The department has taken steps to alleviate that issue by increasing the amount of well water, flushing the system and other treatment measures.

The water is tested in the system and at the treatment plant every day to ensure the safety of Wheeling water customers.  We understand that it is not ideal, but the water is safe to use and drink.
