Wheeling Island Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest of 22-Year-Old

WHEELING, W.Va. – The Wheeling Police Department arrested one person on drug charges following a traffic stop Monday morning.

Officers patrolling Wheeling Island around 8 a.m. initiated a traffic stop on North Wabash Street near Bridge Park. When the officer approached the driver, they located suspected narcotics inside the vehicle. After being transported to police headquarters, the substance tested positive for approximately 22.6 grams of methamphetamine.

The driver, Gabriel Matthew Gelina, 22, of Wheeling, was taken into custody and arraigned before an Ohio County magistrate on one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was transported to the Northern Regional Jail. Bond is set at $15,000.
