Wheeling Man Charged with Obstruction, For ‘Being a Person in Possession of Deadly Weapon’

WHEELING, W.Va. – One person is facing criminal charges after an incident Saturday evening in downtown Wheeling.

Around 6:50 p.m., officers patrolling Water Street were alerted to a person reportedly displaying a firearm in their waistband. Police approached the individual, who attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. A firearm was located on the individual with an extended magazine.

Zackary Allen Croghan, 19, of Wheeling, is charged with obstructing an officer and being a prohibited person in possession of a deadly weapon.

He was taken to the Northern Regional Jail and later arraigned by a magistrate. Bond was set at $10,000.
