The Wheeling Police Department is continuing its investigation into the death of a man following an apparent bicycle accident on the Heritage Trail near the I-470 bridge in South Wheeling.
Officers and fire department personnel initially responded to a reported medical emergency on the trail at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, before determining the incident involved an apparent bicycle accident. The man later died from his injuries.
There are no ongoing public safety concerns, and the Heritage Trail is open.
