Wheeling Park High School alumni, Megan Chacalos, is making moves and living dreams in New York City; she is also returning to her hometown for a one-night performance at Towngate Theater! Read on to learn more about Megan’s story.
After graduating from Wheeling Park, Megan earned a BFA in acting from West Virginia University. “After receiving my degree, I moved to NYC and started auditioning and acting, luckily, finding a steady upward trend of success. On stage, I’ve worked regionally, off-off-Broadway, and most recently off-Broadway this past season. Through it all, I razzle- dazzled my way into my current day job as a Broadway Producer,” Chacalos states.
Wheeling Park had a profound influence on the actress Chacalos would become: “The majority of my time at Park was spent in the Theatre Department. I figured out early on that I wanted to pursue this career so I made it my main priority. I was in all of the shows, I was President of the Park Players, and although I never had a starring role, I used every casting as a learning opportunity. I would be in the Theatre rehearsing before school and then after school until 7 or 8pm. Or until Cornforth (Bill) kicked me out. That habit of hard work carries me through to this day. Every opportunity is an excuse to learn more about my craft,” Chacalos shares.
Scheduled at Towngate Theater on July 13th, Megan will premiere a unique, original production entitled “Forever Miscast: A Night with Megan Chacalos and her friends!” The show offers perspective on the journey many actors and actresses take when diving in full force to the profession. It also gives Chacalos the ability to perform for friends and family who may not be able to make the trip to New York to see the show.
“This show is my love letter to those who support me and my career. Last year it was brought to my attention that a lot of my supporters wanted to see me perform but weren’t able to do so seeing that NYC is an 8 hour drive away. I was so flattered and thought, ‘Okay! If they want a show, I can do that!’ The show is half cabaret, half storytelling, I’ll weave my way through the series of miscasts that lead me to my current spot in the world of Broadway! This show is about stepping into any role you want and taking charge of your own story,” states Chacalos.
Chacalos most looks forward to sharing the stage with friends and giving them a platform to showcase their talent. “As a producer, it’s extremely important to me to provide performance opportunities for those around me.”
Head to Towngate Theater to support Chacalos and her cast on July 13th. “Forever Miscast” will begin at 7:00.
