Local Resident Discovers Human Remains in South Wheeling

A number of first responders have been in place near the intersection of 42nd and Wood streets in South Wheeling for more than two hours after a report of human remains was made via 911 to the Wheeling Police Department.

The discovery, according to media reports, included a human skull and other skeletal remains that were found by a resident in an overgrown area at the base of a small hillside that leads up to the southbound lanes of W.Va. Route 2.

Law enforcement has closed the roadways in the immediate area; therefore, motorists should avoid the area.

No other information has been officially released by the Wheeling Police Department.
