If an individual has moved away, there’s something about this place that lures you back here whether you’re from the Ohio side or native of the northern panhandle, and those are the same reasons why many have never left. If you haven’t moved back, you do return every time it’s possible no matter where you live now.
With several projects under way at this time, the
majority of local IBEW members are working on both sides of the Ohio River, and
as far north as Beaver County, Pa.
“But, right now, we’re just OK with economic
development here in the valley as far as major development is concerned,”
Giffin said. “Of course, we have some working on the road construction, and I’m
seeing some movement in the Bellaire area, too, with a couple of new restaurants popping up.
It’s true; the days of finding a one-bedroom apartment for $350 a month with garbage and water included are long gone. You can blame the oil and gas workers or you can blame the greed of landlords who want to make more profit from the properties. Regardless of the direction in which you point your finger, the reality remains: We need housing in this valley, and we needed it yesterday.
Having "just enough" can look a lot of ways. Maybe it's "just enough" gas to get to work. Or "just enough" food to get you through until the next payday. Maybe it's "just enough" to get by after keeping your utilities on.
